Winterizing your ATV or side-by-side
Fuel stabilizer, coolant, battery tender and belt care: how to store a machine so it starts in spring.
If your machine will sit for more than a month, a little preparation now means it starts on the first try next season.
Fuel
Fill the tank and add stabilizer, then run the engine for a few minutes so treated fuel reaches the injectors.
Coolant and fluids
Check the coolant's freeze protection, and change the oil so acidic used oil is not sitting in the engine all winter.
Battery
Connect a maintenance charger, or remove the battery and store it somewhere it will not freeze.
Drive belt
Inspect the CVT belt for glazing or cracks; winter is a good time to replace a worn one.
